No end in sight: Housing market still has legs, economists say - Yes, home prices and home sales are projected to keep rising in the year ahead, although the gains will be smaller. Yes, the supply of homes for sale will fail to keep pace with demand, fueling more cutthroat bidding wars. And yes, rents will keep rising while apartment vacancies stay near all-time lows.


Rent control, property taxes and taller apartment buildings: California considers major housing bills in 2018 - The state’s housing crisis is back on the agenda as California lawmakers return to work after a months-long recess. Proposals floated on the first week of the year would bring major changes to laws governing property taxes, rent control, and local zoning rules. Senate Democrats are also proposing a work-around for the recent GOP tax overhaul, which set a $10,000 cap on state and local tax deductions.


The Impact Of Wildfires On The Future Of California Real Estate - After a wildfire, well-developed communities and marketplaces will typically try to rebuild. This rebuilding period introduces opportunity. When there is an opportunity, opportunity-seekers come knocking. Concerning the real estate market, buyers may begin looking to purchase properties at discounts and developers may seek to redevelop communities. Sometimes this leads to changes in land use, altering the makeup of a community.
