Trump’s tax reform plan is a mixed bag for real estate - "...the plan wipes out state and local tax deductions, which could hurt high-cost areas like New York and California, and would put an end to homeowners deducting their property taxes. The plan wipes out the death tax, and offers good and bad news for small business..."

New report reveals Bay Area home prices won't roll back anytime soon - The San Jose mayor told ABC7 News there's no more land, and it's time to build up. In downtown San Jose and in South San Jose, that's what they're doing, but really it's just a drop in the bucket. Researchers found a 20-percent increase in the current level of home building that is needed to achieve even a modest 10 -percent drop in prices. That means Santa Clara County would need about 129,000 new housing units to reach that number.

Bay Area housing: Prices climb in August with low inventory - Despite the meager supply of single-family homes on the market, Bay Area home sales rose in August as buyers rushed to grab almost anything available. In fact, it was the busiest August in five years as prices continued to climb from a year earlier — by more than 12 percent. The median price of a single-family home in the nine-county region was $775,000, according to the CoreLogic real estate information service, which issued its latest report Friday.

Important California bills waiting for Governor Jerry Brown’s signature - Several major legislative initiatives did not make it to the governor’s desk, including state-run universal health care and overhauling the bail system. Here is a quick rundown of some of the more consequential bills, according to CALmatters.
