Silicon Valley claims 4 of 5 priciest U.S. housing markets - Coldwell Banker Real Estate studied 51,000 four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes in 2,000 cities across the country, which pinpointed a total of eight Bay Area cities among the 10 priciest markets nationwide.

Google could hire 30,000 in Bay Area based on tech titan's development spree - Some real estate industry insiders familiar with Google's hiring plans say the tech titan intends to hire 5,000 workers in the Bay Area a year for at least the next five years. Google does not disclose the size of its Bay Area workforce, but it had 55,000 employees globally as of Sept. 30

Inflation Is Major Bay Area Risk - The local market is experiencing an unprecedented velocity of growth and is ‘red hot and on fire,’ says Cushman & Wakefield’s Joe Cook at a recent economic forecast event here, but there are still risks.

Parks and open space measures win in Silicon Valley, East Bay and nationwide - The $24-per-year tax will give the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority money to buy development rights to preserve farmland, build trails for bikes, hikers and horse-riders, and add roughly 15,000 acres of open space preserves and parks in the cities and rural hills of Santa Clara County.

US Rule of Law Drives Foreign Investors - The US has one of the best transparency indices; the rule of law is enforced here, so foreign investors have greater confidence in their ownership position. Also, the dollar has gotten stronger relative to many currencies, so they’re trying to get an additional pop through currency appreciation. It’s not true in every case, but many European currencies are much weaker than before.
